It is important to remember that the BLS care provided by the EMT is the first steps of ALS care, and ALS interventions are the core interventions around which BLS care is provided. This means that BLS and ALS interventions work together to provide the best possible care for a cardiac arrest patient and it is the responsibility of the paramedic to ensure that both types of interventions are being utilized effectively.
